Southwinds is growing alongside new educational opportunities for local families. A new K-9 school opening in Fall 2027 is currently under construction nearby, with a future high school also planned for the community in the coming years.

Southwinds uniquely features the first reconstructed nature preserve in southwest Airdrie. Prior to building the preserve, careful effort was taken to analyze the native vegetation and reintroduce local species onto the grounds with the help of professional arborists and a reputable nursery. This flora was then transplanted back into the community to create a rich environmental reserve. The intention is to create a sustainable, healthy community integrated with nature, providing further energy-saving options.
